Can you spare a few hundred bucks?

I've seen this in action and it's creepy. I understand that I'm not safe from professional fundraisers in the privacy of my own home, but you'd think I could escape to the streets of Manhattan without being besieged. I'm thinking Mayor Bloomberg is going to need to do something about this "panhandling for credit cards" problem.

Seriously, if you see these people, you have an obligation not only to run from them, but to call the charity they are working for (and taking a huge cut from) and tell them this kind of harassment is not something you support.

I am The Director of a Charity Corporation that is seeking to offer assistance to men with life controlling problems. I the ten months we have been trying to construct this organization we have recieved 85 dollars in cash contributions and 1 donation for 7892 dollars which turned out to be a fraudulent check. How can a small corporation protect itself from these types of fraud? and still be able to negotiate contributions with the Federal state and local government as well as the general public? I dont wish to be papanoid of all donors however this one bunk donation created a banking bookkeeping and trust nightmare that threatens to ruin the company before we begin to achieve the goal of restoring these men to sanity sobriety and useful citizenship.
