Breaking News: Charity Listens to Donors!
The New York Times had the story over the weekend of Direct Relief International's (a Charity Navigator 4-star charity, and one we recommend for those who want to help Indonesian earthquake victims) "shareholder meeting." Regular readers of this blog will remember this unique meeting--where donors, recipients, and charity leaders come together to talk about how the money raised by Direct Relief is spent--because I was given the honor to be the keynote speaker at last year's meeting, and blogged from Santa Barbara.
The media coverage is warranted (albeit a year late!), and I salute any group that actively seeks out an opportunity to engage in serious discussions with their donors.
